November Campus Beauty Shot

Acknowledgment and Naming

桃瘾社区 recognizes that naming practices reflect the history, tradition, and values of our institution. In 2020 the Commission on Race and Slavery released its report stating that building names on campus should be thoroughly examined in acknowledging and confronting our history.

In 2020, the Board of Trustees formed a committee on Acknowledgment and Naming in response to the Report of the Commission on Race and Slavery. The committee sought the feedback of the college community in preparing a policy that was approved by the Board of Trustees in 2022.

This special committee was formed to develop a process and policies that will guide how the college names buildings, spaces, funds and campus programs.

The college established a naming policy to ensure that its naming practices for facilities, spaces, programs, and funds reflect the college鈥檚 Statement of Purpose and its values.
