Background

My work focuses on the intersection of digital studies and queer studies while spanning a wide range of mediums that include literature, film, social media, and fan fiction. In a piece published to The Lion and the Unicorn (2020), I explore Young Adult literature as a technology for queer cultural inheritance.

Shifting from literature to social media, my analysis of emerging trends in YouTube鈥檚 coming out videos appeared in a recent publication of Queer Studies in Media & Popular Culture (2022).

Additional works on queer representation in video games and fan fiction are set to appear in forthcoming issues of Screen Bodies and Transformative Works and Culture, respectively.

As a goal of both my pedagogy and my practice is to write for a variety of audiences and purposes, my scholarship has also appeared in more public-facing platforms, including In Media Res, Inside Higher Ed, and Public Books.

I am currently a member of the Modern Language Association and the Popular Culture Association, and I鈥檝e served as a co-chair of the Northeast Popular Culture Association鈥檚 鈥淪cience & Technology鈥 panel since 2021.
